Research project by Nelly Rahimy
Titel:The Doughnut Economy and Its Contribution to a Sustainable Transformation of Businesses.
Brief description: : The 21st century not only presents humanity with global environmental challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, but also highlights the importance of social issues such as equality and education for social development. Economist Kate Raworth developed the “Doughnut Economics” approach in 2012, as a way of both examining and tackling these issues. The core of this idea is that humanity should stay within planetary boundaries while not undercutting the social foundations essential to meeting people’s basic needs.
Question: How can the concept of the Doughnut Economy contribute to sustainable transformations within companies?
Method: The dissertation is based on five crucial pillars for companies: Purpose, Ownership, Finance, Governance and Networks. Based on three academic papers, these pillars and their importance for sustainable business transformation will be examined.
Timeframe: August 2022–August 2024
